Introduction
Ying Ya Sheng Luo is an ancient book of overseas experiences written by Ma Huan of the Ming Dynasty. Ma Huan recorded the conditions of the voyages, tides, geography, kings, politics, customs, humanities, language, writing, climate, products, crafts, trade, currency, and wildlife of the twenty countries Zheng He experienced during his voyage to the West. The book was finalized in the second year of Jingtai after 35 years of revision and collation.
The book was written in 1451, and is recognized as one of the most important original documents for the study of Zheng He. Ma Huan accompanied Zheng He to the West and visited more than 20 countries and regions in Asia and Africa, and compiled the book after his return to China. The book records the situation in more than 20 countries, including Chamchung (present-day southern Vietnam), Java, and Mount Ceylon (present-day Sri Lanka). The book was selected as the fourth batch of "National List of Precious Ancient Books".
