Introduction

The I Ching is listed before the Poem, the Book, the Ritual, the Music, and the Spring and Autumn, and is the first of the Six Classics. It is the first of the six scriptures. Its high status is unmatched by any other book. The scholars of the I Ching have formed a surging trend, which people call "Yi Studies". The book has been handed down from child to child since its inception.

The revised edition of Introduction to the I Ching highlights the central position of Fuxi's Great Yi in the I Ching. The system of preternatural numbers, preternatural directions, and the Fuxi Great Ease did not begin with Chen Tuan and Shao Yong in the Song Dynasty, but was already popular in the Western Han Dynasty. The Jiao's Yi Lin discusses it in detail. From its extensive spiritual system, it must be the legacy of the pre-Qin Dynasty. This book takes Shang Bing and Jiao's Yi Lin Note, Jiao's Yi Exegesis, and Zhou Yi Shang's Studies as the standard, and tries to recover the true appearance of Yi Studies in the Western Han Dynasty, which has been lost for two thousand years. To this end, some important concepts of Yi Dao are interpreted. The book is supplemented by a diagram of the sixty-four trigrams in the book "The Great Yi and the Elephant Numbers" by Zhang Li, a famous Yi scholar of the Yuan Dynasty. The book also includes an appendix of Mr. Shang Binghe's "Jiao's I-Lin", which is a collection of the great achievements of elephantology, the original examination of the "I-Lin", Jiao's elephant numbers, and the "Jiao's I-Lin", which speaks of the preternatural trigrams, in order to facilitate a deep understanding of the essence of Yi.
